Americans’ Growing Frustration With Scams

It’s time to end this madness! A recent survey reveals just how fed up Americans are with scam calls and those sneaky white-collar crooks.

2,000 adults chimed in, and guess what’s driving them up the wall? Scam emails (48%), those annoying phone calls (47%), and pesky texts (44%).

Nearly half of them (49%) believe fraud has grown in the last year.

In addition, fifteen percent admit they’re so done with these shenanigans that they’d rather brush off suspicious messages. Would you do the same? And, here’s a head-scratcher for you – 64% have no clue how to report these scams or who to report them to. Can you blame them? Unfortunately, I was in the same situation. The most I did each time I received a scam call was to block the number. I would’ve reported them if I knew who to contact. It’s like navigating a maze with no map! 🤷‍♂️🗺️

White-Collar Crime: Is The Justice System Asleep At The Wheel?

Ever wondered why white-collar crime is such a mystery to most people? Well, here’s some insight, courtesy of a survey conducted by OnePoll and commissioned by software company Medius.

72% of people don’t understand what the heck white-collar crime really is.

And here’s a zinger: 71% of Americans believe that reporting this mysterious crime to the authorities will be like screaming into the void – they think nothing will happen! So, is the justice system just having a leisurely nap while white-collar criminals run rampant?

“The judicial system isn’t set up to deal with fraud, and for businesses, there is huge amounts of money at stake,” said a spokesperson for Medius. “The best way to tackle white-collar crime is through prevention. For business owners, ensuring staff are trained up to spot fraudulent activity can be worth its weight in gold, and save huge headaches.”

The Audacious Scammers After Your Wallet And Bank Secrets

51% of scam targets have been asked to open their wallets. In addition, 57% had the audacity to be questioned about their personal bank details. Seriously, who are these audacious scammers?

But there’s more scammy business out there! Another 47% were urged to pay some mysterious invoice or bill, and if that’s not enough, nearly one in five people (19%) were pushed to divulge their company’s most sensitive info. What a shame!

How Americans Handle Suspicious Emails At Work

Office workers! Imagine being at work minding your business, and there it is – a suspicious email. What do you do? Would you just hit that delete button (42% say ‘yeah’)? Or do you put on your crusader cape and report it as spam (36% say ‘bring it on’)?

Fortunately, 81% of grown-ups out there want to see those sneaky white-collar criminals held accountable. Is it too much to ask? This is like a neighborhood watch program, where everyone has to work together to keep the streets safe. It’s up to each individual to be vigilant and report questionable activity, or the problem will never come to an end.

Additionally, 27% of Americans wonder if sentences for these culprits could be much, much longer. What do you think? Are you in the “throw the book at ’em” camp?

Last but not least, here’s one for the tech-savvy worriers. Are you part of the 48% who are losing sleep over the increasing use of artificial intelligence? Just remember, the machines are watching – or are they?

“AI is having an impact on almost all areas of life, and we’re really only at the beginning of what those issues could be,” added Medius’ spokesperson. “From the entertainment industry to journalism to the justice system, everyone is scrambling to keep up. AI could be a hugely powerful tool for criminals, so it’s important workplaces stay on top of the latest developments and make sure staff are up to date as well.”
