Where PC Repairs Hit Your Wallet The Hardest

According to a fresh study, New York is the top state for shelling out the big bucks on PC repairs. This isn’t as far-fetched as it sounds.

Getac, the resilient computing solutions specialists dug into census and spending data to figure out how much each state drops on fixing their computers. They even compared it against each state’s median income, just to see who was throwing the most cash at PC problems.

The condition of one of my laptops has been atrocious for several years, but I guarantee I will be able to have it repaired for much less than it would cost in New York.

New York

New York tops the list as the state paying the most on average for PC repair. Across New York, the average price was $8.47 for PC repair, which is 0.1352% of the $6,263.08 median monthly income. This means New Yorkers pay 16.6% more on average to repair their computers. I believe New Yorkers would have preferred to have been offered alternative options instead of spending a large portion of their hard-earned money on getting their PCs repaired for unreasonable prices.

Florida

Compared to the median state income, the average cost of PC repair in Florida is the second highest. Typical PC repair costs in the state were $6.57, which represents 0.1276% of the median monthly income of $5,148.08.

The rate is 10% higher than the national average. I guess you could say Floridians are “high on PC repairs”! The fact that prices are increasing no longer bothers me. Nowadays, it is expensive to purchase a bag of chips.

Perhaps we should go back to the days when typewriters were used so that we can save money. But, maybe not, since most of us require access to the internet to support our daily routines, including work, school, paying bills, etc.

New Jersey

In terms of PC repair costs, New Jersey ranks fourth in terms of average income. A PC repair in New Jersey costs on average $9.35, which is 0.1251% of the median monthly income of $7,475.25. Therefore, it costs 7.8% more than the national standard. In addition to being the highest in the nation, before being compared to income, the average spending is $9.35.

I have observed that the more attractive the states appear, the more costly they are to reside in, but do you believe that should apply to all aspects of a state?

Massachusetts

Massachusetts ranks fifth in terms of the state that pays the most on average for PC repair. In Massachusetts, the average cost of PC repair is $9.23, which represents 0.1244% of the monthly median income of $7,418.83. This means that on average, Massachusetts residents spend 7.2% more on PC repairs than the national average. You have my condolences Massachusetts.

California

We all know how expensive it is to breathe in the air in this state. California ranks sixth when it comes to PC repair costs per capita compared with median income. Californians spend an average of $8.59 per month on PC repair, which corresponds to 0.1226% of their median income of $7,008.08, 5.6% more than the national average. I knew California would make the list. There is an unimaginable cost associated with everything there. The scenery, however, is breathtaking.

Arizona Ranks 7th In PC Repair Spending

A comparison of Arizona’s PC repair expenditures with the national average reveals that it ranks seventh in the country.

The average PC repair cost in Arizona is $6.63, which is 4% higher than the national average. As a result, this amount represents 0.1207% of the state’s median monthly income, which is $5,492.75.

Due to the extreme heat in this state, I can understand why PCs require repair. Batteries probably melt due to the heat.

Louisiana

According to PC repair costs compared to median income, Louisiana ranks eighth in the nation.

There is an average charge of $5.36 for PC repairs, which describes 0.1201% of the state’s median income of $4,464.25, which is 3.5% higher than the national rate. Though I have not been to Louisiana, I am certain that the same factors that contribute to the high PC Repair costs in Arizona also apply there.

Illinois

In comparison to median income, Illinois has the ninth highest PC repair costs. The average cost of repairs in Illinois is 3.3% higher than in the rest of the country. PC repair costs on average $7.25, or 0.1199% of the median monthly income of $6,046.92.

Illinois is one of the most advanced states when it comes to spending on PC repairs! They must have superior quality for their technology to be worth that much.

PC Repair Investments In Nevada

Among the ten states paying the highest average price for PC repairs, Nevada rounds out the top ten. Nevada households spent an average of $6.55 per month, which is 0.1197% of the median monthly income of $5,473.83, a value that is 3.1% higher than the national average.

Apparently, in the state of Nevada, they’re willing to go the extra distance (or more accurately, the extra $6.55) to ensure their PCs are running smoothly.

If I lived in one of these states and I was paying the same amount as they are, I would expect my PC to work so well after the repair that I could spill water on it and it would still work.

Spokesperson From Getac Offers Insights To Avoid PC Damage

Speaking on the findings, a Getac spokesperson said: “One thing to consider to avoid device breakage is ensuring you use the right device for the right job, especially if you work in challenging conditions.

“The average consumer-grade or business-grade laptops and tablets are designed for indoor use in clean, safe, climate-controlled spaces. If you use it outdoors, in a vehicle, or in an area where welding or machine work is done, you risk compromising the user experience and damaging the devices.

“Semi-rugged or fully-rugged computing devices are designed for operation outside air-conditioned indoor spaces. They are designed for a longer lifecycle than an enterprise- or consumer-grade machine. This reduces the frequency of malfunctions and damage. Rugged computers are operable in winter cold or summer heat (-21oC to 50oC at the minimum) and using work gloves. They’re also certified waterproof, dustproof, and tolerant of drops, impact, and other abuse.”
